What Is Lorem Ipsum?

Lorem ipsum is placeholder text used in the design and typesetting industry since the 1500s. It originates from a scrambled passage of Cicero's De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum (45 BC). Designers use it because it has a natural-looking distribution of letters and word lengths that closely resembles real English text, without distracting the viewer with readable content.

Generation Modes

  • Paragraphs — Generate 1–50 full paragraphs. Each paragraph varies in length for a natural look. Best for filling page layouts and blog post mockups.

How to Use
