Counting Tips
- ● A space, tab, and line break all contribute to the total. The no-whitespace count excludes them.
- ● A single line break adds a line. Insert a blank line to separate paragraphs in this counter.
- ● Chinese characters each add one to the word estimate. This is not Chinese word segmentation.
- ● Reading time assumes 200 English word-like groups or 300 supported Chinese characters per minute. It is a rough estimate, not a measured reading speed.

One visible symbol can use several units
The total follows JavaScript string length: π counts as 2, e plus a combining acute accent counts as 2, and π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ counts as 11. The counter does not normalize accents or join emoji sequences into single symbols.
Lines are not paragraphs
The two-line text βoneβ followed by βtwoβ has 7 units and 1 paragraph. With a blank line between them, it has 8 units, 3 lines, and 2 paragraphs. Screen wrapping does not add line breaks to the text.
Word counts depend on the language
Hello world counts as 2 words; δΈζ also adds 2 to this toolβs estimate. The Chinese category covers specified Han-character ranges, not all CJK scripts. Kana, Hangul, and some less common characters are counted in other categories instead.

Yes. The total includes whitespace such as spaces, tabs, and line breaks. The no-whitespace total removes all characters matched by JavaScript whitespace rules, not just ordinary spaces.
Websites may count UTF-16 units, Unicode code points, visible symbols, or platform-specific weighted lengths. Emoji, combined accents, and links can produce different totals. Check the destination editor for its final limit; this tool does not certify compliance with a social platform.
After supported Chinese characters are separated, each whitespace-separated group containing an ASCII letter or digit adds one word. Each supported Chinese character also adds one. This is an approximation, not linguistic word segmentation; Japanese, Korean, accented text, and other scripts can be undercounted.
Paragraphs are nonempty text blocks separated by a blank line. A single line break increases the line count but does not start a new paragraph. Sentences are nonempty fragments split at . ! ? γ οΌ or οΌ, so abbreviations and decimal numbers can affect the result.
