Color picker questions
How do I pick a color from a picture or screenshot?
Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP image, drop it into the image area, or paste a screenshot. Click a pixel to read its color, zoom for small details, and copy the desired format. Images are decoded locally, not uploaded.
Why can image colors differ between tools?
Resizing, interpolation, JPEG compression, color profiles and alpha compositing can change sampled values. This tool samples the browser-decoded source canvas separately from its scaled preview. Automatic image palettes are approximate.
What is the difference between HEX and RGBA?
Six-digit HEX stores RGB only. Eight-digit HEX adds an alpha byte; RGBA expresses opacity as a number from 0 to 1. Copy a format with alpha when transparency matters. Fully transparent pixels have no visible color on their own.
Does screen picking work on every phone and browser?
No. EyeDropper support depends on the browser and requires a secure context and a user action. If it is unavailable, image selection and screenshot pasting remain the alternatives; clipboard permissions may also vary.
Are my pictures and saved colors uploaded?
Image sampling, palette extraction and color conversion run locally. Saved colors stay in this browser and can be removed individually or cleared. Images are not saved. Ordinary website analytics are separate and do not receive the image or sampled color values from this tool.
