How to use the MIDI keyboard
Three steps from idea to .mid file.
Pick a timbre & play
Choose Grand Piano, Organ, Synth, Strings, Pipa, Guitar, Flute, or Music Box. Play with your computer keyboard (Z-M + Q-U), mouse, or touch. Shift octaves with arrow keys.
Hit REC & perform
Click REC (or press R) and play your melody. Every note and its timing is captured. Use the sustain pedal (Space) for legato phrases.
Export .mid & open in DAW
Click Export (or Ctrl+S) to download a standard MIDI file. Drag it into Ableton, FL Studio, Logic Pro, GarageBand, or any DAW. Playback first to verify.

Full Computer Keyboard Mapping
Two rows cover two octaves simultaneously. Z–M for the lower octave, Q–U for the upper. Black keys on the letter/number rows in between. Play chords by pressing multiple keys at once.
Web MIDI Output — Send to Any DAW Live
Plug in a USB MIDI interface or virtual MIDI cable, select it from the device dropdown, and every note you play is sent out in real time. Program changes map timbres to General MIDI instruments automatically (Chrome & Edge).
100% Private & Works Offline
All synthesis and recording happens in your browser. No audio is sent to any server. Once loaded, the keyboard works offline via the service worker.
Pro Tips
- ● Hold Space for sustain pedal. Notes keep ringing until you release it.
- ● Use arrow keys to shift octaves and reach the full 88-key range.
- ● Playback before export to verify your recording sounds right.
- ● Set the BPM before recording so the .mid file has the correct tempo.
- ● The Synth Lead timbre works great for bass lines in lower octaves.
- ● Pair with the Metronome to record in perfect time.
- ● Connect a MIDI device via the plug dropdown to send notes to your DAW in real time (Chrome/Edge).
- ● Pipa (琵琶) has a sharp pluck attack — great for fast melodic runs and Chinese music styles.
- ● Guitar (吉他) works well for strumming patterns in mid-range octaves (C3–C5).
- ● Flute (笛子) sounds best in higher octaves (C5+) with the sustain pedal for long breathy notes.
- ● Music Box (音乐盒) has a quick decay — perfect for lullabies and delicate melodies.
