Video Screenshot Tool: Capture Video Frames

Choose a local video or try the sample, pause near the moment you want, and refine the position with the timeline or time input. Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP, click Capture Screenshot, then download the preview. The captured image excludes the player controls and browser window.

The video's codec must be supported by your browser and operating system. H.264 MP4 is a useful starting point; WebM and some MOV recordings may also work. An MP4 or MOV filename alone does not guarantee support, especially for HEVC phone recordings. If a file fails, try an H.264 export rather than renaming its extension.

The image uses the width and height decoded by the browser, not the displayed player size. A supported 1920 × 1080 source produces a 1920 × 1080 screenshot; 4K depends on decoding support and available memory. The tool does not upscale, sharpen or restore missing detail. Frames above 40 million pixels or 16,384 pixels on either side are rejected.

No. The selected video, captured images and ZIP are processed in your browser. The page may download website assets, the optional sample or the ZIP component, but it does not upload your selected video for conversion. Keep the page open while exporting and download the results you want to keep.

Pause at each useful moment and click Mark this moment. Click a recorded timestamp to preview it again, select the moments you need, choose an image format and use the export button. After sequential capture, a completion card offers the ZIP download. You can mark up to 30 moments; automatic interval or every-frame extraction is not available.

PNG preserves the captured pixels without lossy image encoding and is useful for text or diagrams. JPEG and WebP use lossy encoding here and may reduce the size of photographic frames. Compare the actual size shown for your image and check the receiving app's format support. Changing format cannot repair blur already present in the video.

Motion blur, a low-resolution source or previous video compression can limit detail. Pause on a clearer nearby moment and wait for seeking to finish before capturing. The right-side result is the last captured image: moving the left timeline does not update it automatically. Capture again and check the timestamp beneath the new preview.

A selected video can be up to 500 MB. You can mark up to 30 timestamps, and one batch is limited to 64 MB of encoded images before ZIP packaging. These are application limits, not a guarantee that every device has enough memory. For a large batch, choose fewer moments or try JPEG/WebP; for an oversized video, export a shorter or lower-resolution clip first.

No exact source-frame indexing is promised. Each short step changes the requested time by about 1/30 second; the source frame rate, variable frame timing and browser decoder determine the image displayed. Several steps can show the same frame. Use the preview and timestamp to choose a useful still rather than relying on a frame number.

The completion card identifies failed timestamps and labels a partial ZIP if other images succeeded. Download the successful portion or retry failed moments without changing the selection and format. Cancelling or failing a new export does not erase the previous downloadable ZIP. Check its summary so you do not mistake an older package for the new selection.

Marks belong to the current video and are held in this page session. Reset, reloading or closing the page, and successfully loading a different video clear them. Cancelling the file picker or failing to load a replacement preserves the existing video and results. Download important screenshots or ZIPs before leaving or resetting.

This tool accepts local video files, not streaming-service links or remote video URLs. If you have permission to use a video, obtain a supported local copy and select it in the tool. It does not bypass streaming restrictions, download online videos or remove watermarks that are part of the source picture.
